 UK'S PRINCE EDWARD VISITS ZAMBIA

The British High Commission has announced that Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex will visit to Zambia between 3rd and 4th October, 2013.
Prince Edward is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II.  

 Prince Edward will start his visit by paying a courtesy call on His Excellency the Acting President, Alexander Chikwanda (nominated)MP, according to a statememt from the High Commission,
High Commissioner James Thornton said:

 “I am delighted that His Royal Highness is visiting Zambia this week.   This is largely a working visit; the Prince will be promoting the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Zambia. The Prince will visit Alliance Motors, the franchise holder for Jaguar Land Rover products in Zambia, one of several British companies with an important presence here.  And I am hosting a lunch for the Prince, to introduce him to a range of prominent Zambians and British nationals resident here.   
The statement from the British High Commission futher says:
'The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Scheme was founded by Prince Edward’s father in 1956.   The Prince spends much of his time promoting the scheme, which now operates in more than 140 countries.    

The Scheme has been operating in Zambia since 2009.  Approximately 200 young Zambians have so far taken part in the training programme offered by the Scheme.   

The Prince will assist His Honour the Vice-President in conferring Gold Awards, the highest level of the Programme, to young Zambians.  
He will also participate at a fund-raising dinner for the Award in Zambia.
