Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited have presented a cash support of GHC1m (about $466, 747) to the Black Stars as part payment of their three- year sponsorship agreement with the Ghana FA.
The latest gesture is the third trench payment of the three-year sponsorship agreement worth GHC 2.8m (a little over$1.4m).
The cash boost comes just days before Ghana hosts Zambia in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.
Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah in accepting the cash support alongside Ghana FA Executive Committee officials says the gesture has come at the right time as the
Black Stars prepare to secure yet another victory for Ghana against Zambia. “I hope that part of this money will be given to the technical team and the playing body immediately,” Appiah said at the presentation ceremony on Tuesday.
“All these support and encouragements will help the team win on Friday. “As for what will happen on the pitch the players themselves are already ready and I believe with your continued support and prayers we will win.”
Guinness are one of the oldest sponsors of the Black Stars – with their partnership with the Ghana FA spanning over a decade.
They are the official beverage sponsors of the Black Stars.
