Celebrated Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie emerged the most nominated artiste when the 5th edition
of the prestigious music video awards in the industry, MTN/4Syte TV
Music Video Awards was launched. He has been nominated in eight (8) of
the nineteen (19) categories of the awards ceremony including a
collaboration [a video to the song titled “Hallelujah”] with Senegalese
pop singer, Vivian Chidid. However, Okyeame Kwame, Jupitar and 4×4 came
close with six, four and four nominations respectively.
The event which took place Friday night on top of the plush Silver Star Tower saw a lot of celebrities passing through to witness it being launched. Among them included Eazzy, J. Town, EL, Efya, KOD, Zapp Mallet and Raquel. Others included DJ Mensah, Juliet Ibrahim, Prince David Osei, Frank Artus, Selly among others.
There were performances from music duo Praye, Criss Waddle, Dr. Cryme, Gemini and contestants from the MTN Hitmaker music reality show. On a lighter side, dancers from Ghana’s dance and entertainment house, Flash Mob Ghana Limited entertained the audience after the ceremony when the flawlessly employed their well choreographed dance moves on the dance floor.
Organizers of the event, 4Syte TV however announced a new category “Most Influential Artiste” which has replaced the “Overall Best Video” category acknowledging that it will celebrate innovation and creative impact the video has made. The net worth, branding and influence of the artiste both home and abroad are also taken into consideration here.
